El Centro de Investigaciones Científicas de las Huastecas “Aguazarca” (CICHAZ) is a field station in Calnali, Hidalgo, Mexico. Headed by Dr. Gil Rosenthal (Texas A&M Biology department), most research here involves swordtail fishes (Xiphophorus spp.) in streams of the Río Pánuco basin. I have been studying the ecology of cichlids in this area and the possible impacts of introduced convict cichlids (Archocentrus nigrofasciatus).
