Freshman Scholarships

The Department of Wildlife & Fisheries Sciences offers a number of freshman scholarships that range from $400/yr to $2500/yr. Applications are available via the Texas Common Scholarship Application on the Texas Common Application Website http://www.applytexas.org . Applications become available on September 1 of each year and the deadline is February 1 of each year.

Continuing Undergraduate Student Scholarships

The Department of Wildlife & Fisheries Sciences offers several scholarships for continuing students. Students must be enrolled full time during the semesters that the scholarship is awarded. The University Scholarship Application is available at https://scholarships.tamu.edu/. The applications will be available in October of each year with a February 1 deadline. Scholarships vary depending on the availability of funds each year.  The following are a sample of scholarships available to undergraduate students in the WFSC department.

  • Daniel Wayne Lay Scholarship – $1000
    • Minimum 3.0 GPR
    • Financial need
    • Citizen or permanent resident of the United States
    • Jr. or Sr. in Wildlife Ecology & Conservation
  • W.B. Davis Scholarship – $1000
    • Minimum 3.0 GPR
    • Citizen or permanent resident of the United States
    • Undergraduate student in Wildlife Ecology & Conservation
  • Donnie Harmel Scholarship – $1000
    • Texas resident
    • Undergraduate student
    • Involved in professional societies and natural resource related activities.
    • Be of an attitude that exemplifies hard work, honesty and a willingness to be a good steward of our natural resources.
  • Rick & James Beck Scholarship – $1000
    • Jr. or Sr. Classification
    • Student in Fisheries/Aquaculture option
    • Financial need
    • Texas resident
  • Dallas Ecological Foundation Scholarship – $1000
    • Undergraduate student in Wildlife Ecology & Conservation
    • Must be in good standing in Department & University
    • Possess a current Texas hunting license
  • William C. Spalsbury Scholarship – $500
    • Minimum 3.0 GPR
    • Citizen or permanent resident of the United States
    • Jr. or Sr. in Wildlife Ecology & Conservation
